Desde su adopción reciente en ArcGIS, Python tiene mucho éxito en el mundo de los SIG y cualquier aficionado a Python debería alegrarse, y este título puede parecer extraño para algunos. Sin embargo, es una realidad.

En este artículo muestro cómo visualizar en 3D capas vectoriales (bien sean shapefiles de tipo 3D o shapefiles con atributo de altitud) con los módulos Python Shapely, Matplotlib y Visvis desde la consola Python de Quantum GIS.

Como mencioné en un post anterior (por favor léelo antes de continuar), busco extender el Servicio de Procesamiento Web (WPS) del Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) habilitándolo para procesar flujos continuos de datos espaciales, así como para enviar resultados intermedios de vuelta al cliente. Estas dos funcionalidades se consiguen con streaming de entrada y de salida, un método que añade geoprocesamiento casi en tiempo real al WPS. En este post se dan los fundamentos de la idea, así como detalles de implementación y enlaces a varios recursos, incluyendo una demo.

Busco implementar un WPS basado en streaming sobre el framework WPS de 52°North para que procesos básicos puedan manipular la entrada y salida de flujos continuos de datos espaciales. Este post muestra el estado actual del trabajo así como pasos posteriores.
