Con la llegada de SpatiaLite ( http://www.gaia-gis.it/gaia-sins/) basado en SQLite, muchos "Sigistas" empezaron a interesarse en SQLite, pero en la práctica, pocos de ellos conocen realmente esta base de datos y sus múltiples usos.

SQL Query Builder for pgAdmin's PostGIS ViewerWritten by German Carrillo
I have added a QGIS plugin to the PostGIS Viewer for building SQL querys allowing the results to be displayed as a new layer. The plugin is RT Sql Layer from the Faunalia's repository, extracting just its SQL Query Builder.

Improvements in the PostGIS Viewer for pgAdminWritten by German Carrillo
Due to some suggestions from Ivan Mincik and Iván Lizarazo, I have been adding a couple of functionalities to the postgis viewer plugin for pgAdmin. Now, it has raster support (PostGIS-WKTRaster) and a layer list widget for displaying layer properties. Additionally, some minor bugs have been fixed: antialiasing and map units detection.

A couple of months ago, Ivan Mincik released a PostGIS viewer for pgAdmin using the Python version of QGIS libraries. I have taken the source code to add some functionality: now, every new layer is added to the same application and the scale and cursor coordinates are displayed.

SpatiaLite es el soporte espacial de la base de datos de SQLite. Se constituye como una alternativa de implementación a los conocidos sistemas de PostgreSQL/PostGIS y MySQL. Como se detalla en el siguiente blog existen grandes ventajas frente a la sencillez de instalación y configuración, portabilidad, la velocidad de procesamiento, el soporte de varias funcionalidades con datos geográficos y la conexión oficial con la última versión de Quantum GIS v1.1.0.

Cargar shapefiles a Postgis por medio de scripts en Bash para GNU/LinuxWritten by German CarrilloAlgunas veces queremos disponer nuestra información espacial en bases de datos, dependiendo de la cantidad, puede resultar siendo un proceso tedioso. Con la ayuda de scripts en Bash podemos cargar rápidamente los Shapefiles de un directorio a una base de datos de PostgreSQL/Postgis en un entorno GNU/Linux.
